I'm thinking about adding LED strips to my Mach-E cargo area, but I want to do it the right way.

I saw someone wire it directly to the C489 connector, but I'm trying to use the OEM lamp module to control the LEDs. I've managed to open the module and find a suitable trigger signal, but I'm warning everyone upfront - this is not for the faint of heart!

It's risky and could damage your car if you mess up. If you're still interested, proceed at your own risk!

Can we see the finished product? That's one heck of a job. You're the man @OliverTwist! What did you use to attach the LED strips?

That's why I love this forum! Keep the experiments and ideas going guys!

I’m also thinking about adding some LED strips to the cargo area of my Mach-E, but I’m kind of worried I’ll mess it up. Anyone got some super detailed instructions on how to do it the right way?

Hey Oliver, don't leave us hanging! A small diagram would be really helpful, and it would be great to see the finished product too.

My buddy's doing a clean install of the wiring, tucking everything neatly under the side trims. He couldn't even find most of the wires, except for a tiny bit near the armrest going to the back seats – maybe two inches total. The rest is completely hidden.

The cool thing is that the MME automatically shuts off the lights after a while and turns them back on when you start the car. No need to worry about switching them off manually.

Someone told him he could splice the wires into the fuse box if he knew what he was doing, but he just left it as is.

The MME is the perfect car for hiding wires and placing lights. I'm super happy with how his system turned out!

You're definitly right to warn people! I've learned that car electrical systems are delicate and mistakes can be costly. If you're going to proceed, make sure you have a solid understandng of the wiring diagram and the OEM lamp module. Double and triple-check everything before making any connections. I've found that thorough research and planning are essential.
