Hey, guys! I might need your help! I think I messed it up.

I recently decided to top off the coolant in my Ford Mustang Mach-E, but I am not sure if I used the right type.
  • The motor coolant level was about an inch above the "min" mark, and the battery coolant level was between "max" and "min."
  • I bought a gallon of yellow Motorcraft antifreeze from a Ford dealership and mixed it 50/50 with purified water (I assumed the "DL" in VC-13DL-G from the manual meant "pre-diluted").
  • After adding the mixture to both reservoirs, I noticed the new coolant appears greener than the stock coolant already in the reservoirs.
Does this mean I added the wrong coolant? Should I be worried about provoking any issues? Should I flush the system, or is it safe to leave it as is? I would appreciate any insights or advice!

Don’t beat yourself up; it’s an easy mistake to make! The VC-13DL-G coolant is pre-diluted, the “DL” does mean pre-diluted, so adding your own mix might have slightly changed the formulation. The greenish color might indicate a mismatch, but if it’s a small amount, it might not be a big deal. While the color difference doesn’t necessarily mean disaster, it’s worth flushing the system if you’re unsure. To be safe, I’d consult the dealership or a trusted mechanic, better to sort it now than risk any complications later.

Sir, don't worry! What you see is normal, because the Motorcraft Yellow coolant's color depends on dilution, pH, and even how much air is entrained. So, you are safe!
