Hey everyone, Just wanted to share a cautionary tale about loading weight into the rear of the Mach-E. I was bringing home some flooring from Home Depot and had it loaded in the back. Unfortunately, the little piece that holds the rear deck in place gave way. Turns out, Ford’s design requires replacing the entire inner panel for just that one part. The cost? A staggering $650, just for the parts!

It’s honestly such a poor design decision. Instead of going through that, I’m planning to make my own support and attach it in a more sensible way. A bit of DIY might save a lot of money and future headaches.

For anyone else with a Mach-E, my advice:

Be mindful of what you load into the back.
Keep an eye on the weight, especially if you’re driving over bumpy roads. Any other creative fixes out there?

I assume you didn’t have the load floor in the lower position before loading up the heavy flooring? That might have helped prevent stress on the rear deck. Yeah, DIY fixes sound like a good option

That’s a tough break with the design! I have been mindful about loading up the back of my Mach-E, too.
I usually carry a set of camping gear, a portable grill, and some heavier items like a cooler.
To be safe, I keep the floor in the lowest position to avoid putting too much stress on those plastic shelves.
The supports at the hatch seem sturdy, but the ones further in don’t feel as reliable.
I wish you good luck with that DIY solution.
