Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out the best way to keep my 12V battery topped off for those pesky OTA updates. I've been going on little "battery boost" drives to keep it around 80%, but that's a pain. Anyone know the ideal 12V SOC for updates? Also, will leaving my car running in the garage with the L2 charger plugged in fully charge both the 12V and the main battery?

I'd charge 80% or more for installation. However, if your battery's capacity is depleted, 80% may not be enough. The exact threshold varies according to the battery's age and condition.

It really varies depending on the update. Some updates, like versions 6.6.0 and 6.8.0, require a higher 12-volt battery charge to install correctly. I'd recommend making sure your 12-volt battery is charged to at least 80% before attempting to install those updates.

Even 80% might not be enough if your 12-volt battery is getting old and has lost some of its charge. The exact amount of charge needed can differ from car to car, depending on the condition of your battery.

It depends on the update some are power hungry little beasts. For versions 6.6.0 and 6.8.0, I'd aim for 80% or higher on your 12V battery. If my battery’s a bit long in the tooth, 80% might not cut it. It can take over 12 hours to fully charge the 12V, and the car needs to be on for that, just plugging it in won’t cut it!

Hey! For OTA updates, keeping the 12V battery around 60-80% should do the trick. As for leaving your car running with the L2 charger plugged in, it'll charge both batteries, but the main one gets the VIP treatment. The 12V might get a little love too, but it's like the backup singer doesn't always get the spotlight:LOL:

How often are you getting OTA updates? I've been wondering about the frequency of software updates. If they're frequent, it might be worth investing in a smart plug for your L2 chargr. You could schedule it to charge the car for a short period each day, just enough to keep the 12V battery topped off. I've learned that smart plugs can automate a lot of things

Just curious. Ive seen that the little battery charges when youre driving, but it doesnt when the car's updating. Is there a reason for that? Seems like something's not right
