I had a bit of a surprise at an Electrify Canada station recently. My car charged at a hefty 98kW, which bumped me into a higher pricing tier since it kicks in after 90kW. As a result, my bill was a lot higher than I expected. Is there a way to set a cap at 90kW to avoid this kind of sticker shock in the future?

I've only seen that feature on a few electric cars. Most EV owners want to charge as fast as possible, so I don't think there's much demand for a feature that intentionally slows down DC charging. I can only imagine it would be useful in rare cases where it might save you some money.

Sneaky move by Electrify Canada! Unfortunately most charging networks dont offer a direct way to cap your charging rate. Your best bet is to monitor your charging session closely on the car's display or the Electrify Canada app and manually stop the charge when you're close to that 90kW threshold. It's a hassle, but it's the only way to avoid those surprise charges. You could also try finding stations with lower maximum charging rates, or use a charging network that doesn't have those speed-based pricing tiers. It's a good reminder to always check the pricing details before plugging in!

That’s a bummer! I haven’t seen an option to cap the speed at 90kW, but it’s definitely a good idea to reach out to Electrify Canada and see if they have any recommendations.
